ABOUT ME

Eddie is currently the Co-Founder and CTO of FriendSpot. FriendSpot is a group messaging app that helps you meet up with friends in the real world. FriendSpot was part of Y-Combinator’s Summer ’17 batch.

Previously he was a Product Manager at Facebook in Menlo Park, California and led Messenger Monetization. Before that he worked on Messenger launching mobile Video Calling and Location Sharing, Internet.org building solutions that reduce barriers to internet penetration and adoption, and on mobile News Feed. Prior to that he was in New York City at Facebook within the Global Marketing Solutions organization rotating through roles in engineering, analytics, design, and sales.

Eddie graduated with honors from Dartmouth College in 2013 with a double-major in Economics and Computer Science, and graduated from Phillips Academy Andover in 2009. Before Facebook he spent time in computer animation at Curious Pictures, the Nickelodeon-affiliate studio behind The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, in corporate development at The Walt Disney Company, in quantitative credit trading and global arbitrage trading at Citigroup in Hong Kong, and in technology mergers and acquisitions at The Blackstone Group. He also founded an educational mobile gaming company called Knogick while in college.

Technology

I've always loved technology. Here I've highlighted three of my main skill sets: 3D digital modeling, computer animation, and mobile app development.

Design

I've been designing newspapers, magazines, comics, posters, mobile apps, logos, and websites since I was a kid.

Projects and Research

During my time in college, I had the chance to explore mobile game design and trading algorithms in depth.

3D Digital Modeling

CREATING DIGITAL WORLDS

My sophomore spring in college, I walked into a digital modeling class because I needed an art distrib (Distributive Course Requirement). Since then, I haven't stopped modeling - castles, houses, stained glass, museums, starships, robots, 3D prints - you name it.

Computer Animation

BRINGING CHARACTERS TO LIFE

Compared to modeling, animation didn't come nearly as easily, but I had the luck of being taught by and working with some of the greatest minds in animation today - on Nickelodean TV shows, and with Disney and Dreamworks animators.

Game Design

MAKING EXPERIENCES

Growing up as a kid, Pokemon defined my childhood. Since then, I've always wanted to try my hand at game design, but have really only started exploring this field. I've looked at 3D games, 2D games, mobile games, and everything in-between.

Design

I first learned Photoshop in high school, more from need than interest, but quickly found that design and aesthetic naturally appealed to me. In college I first started working on newspapers, posters, and

magazines, but eventually found other pursuits much more fulfilling - designing animations and graphics for one. I hope you enjoy the three galleries above!

Knogick

START UP COMPANIES AND VENTURES

My most recent start-up is Knogick Monsters, a creative mobile gaming app that uses the popular Nintendo Pokemon gaming paradigm to leverage addictiveness to teach SAT I math in a fun, interactive way.

Pairs Trading Algorithms

ECONOMICS RESEARCH

I spent the summer after my junior year working at Citigroup's global markets trading arm in Hong Kong. There, I was introduced to modern pairs trading theory; an interest I further pursued in my culminating experience for Economics when I went back to Dartmouth for my senior year.

Games that Transform Education

COMPUTER SCIENCE HONORS THESIS

For my honors thesis in Computer Science, I chose to focus on the crossing of game design and education. I spent 5 months during my senior year working on implementing a working prototype of the results of my research.
